Patching Radio Button into SharePoint from a set variable

I'm currently trying to patch a radio button into a SharePoint, but am proving to have some difficulties as I don't know how to run multiple 'else-like' functions. I want it to patch only if the column is blank and it has to update the previously selected user. The way it works so far is like so...

You select a staff member for evaluation from a gallery list which navigates to the feedback screen via this code:

Set(varGroupMemEd, ThisItem); Navigate(FeedbackForm)

This is the current code I have in place for the patch:

Patch(
    CharterProjectSP,
    If(
        IsBlank(varGroupMemEd),
        Defaults(CharterProjectSP)
    ),
    {
        Q1a: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
        UserSubmit1: User().Email
    }
);

This code obviously has errors.

Key things I need implemented in the code are:

- I need the code to patch for the selected user

- I need it to patch only if the column doesn't contain data (IsBlank)

- If the column contains data I need it to patch in the next column, rough e.g.:

Patch this:

Q1a: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
UserSubmit1: User().Email

else, patch this:

Q1b: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
UserSubmit2: User().Email

else, patch this:

Q1c: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
UserSubmit3: User().Email

else, patch this:

Q1d: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
UserSubmit4: User().Email

else, patch this:

Q1e: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
UserSubmit5: User().Email

Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks in advance 🙂

@WarrenBelz No, the above code helps filter out the names when a patch has been made.
I still need the code to actually do the patch by checking the columns and executing a single patch on the first blank column it encounters.

@DarkShadows117 ,

Sorry I am lost - if you are patching new records, then all columns will be blank.

@WarrenBelz that's okay, I might be explaining it poorly or overcomplicating it, sorry.
The patch will be new records into blank cells. However, the app is being used by numerous staff, so there is good chance the column might not be blank.

For example:

staff1's Q1a && UserSubmit1 columns might have an evaluation from staff2, then when staff3 goes to provide their evaluation the next day of staff1, the patch would need to occur in the next column (i.e. Q1b && UserSubmit2) to ensure it doesn't override staff2's evaluation of staff1.

@DarkShadows117 ,

OK - the piece missing here I suspect is you have a date field and you do not want the combination twice in a given day ? What is the name of this field ?

@WarrenBelz I do not have a date field, would it be needed?
Because the evaluation's won't be one person per day. The app would be accessible during a period of time (i.e. all staff will have access to the app from start of Feb to end of Feb and they need to provide their evaluations at anytime before end of Feb).

@DarkShadows117 ,

So are you saying that a user can only have ONE record ever in the data base on each question ?

@WarrenBelz, sort of. There is only ONE question (the radio button) that needs to be answered for the evaluation, but each user will have a maximum of 5 records. Refer to image attached. But each record will be from a different group member (i.e. different User().Email). Each staff member can only provide ONE evaluation for each other member.

I hope this example helps:

Let's say we have a group with members A, B, C, D & E.

A will have to provide evaluations of B, C, D & E
B will have to provide evaluations of A, C, D & E
C will have to provide evaluations of A, B, D & E

D will have to provide evaluations of A, B, C & E

E will have to provide evaluations of A, B, C & D

@DarkShadows117 ,

I think you need something like this

If(
   IsBlank(
      Lookup(
         SPListName,
         UserSubmit1 = User().Email
      )
   ),
   Patch(
      SPListName,
      Defaults(SPListName),
      {
         Q1a: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
         UserSubmit1: User().Email
      }
   ),
   IsBlank(
      LookUp(
         SPListName,
         UserSubmit2 = User().Email
      )
   ),
   Patch(
      SPListName,
      Defaults(SPListName),
      {
         Q1b: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
         UserSubmit2: User().Email
      }
   ),
   IsBlank(
      LookUp(
         SPListName,
         UserSubmit3 = User().Email
      )
   ),
   Patch(
      SPListName,
      Defaults(SPListName),
      {
         Q1c: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
         UserSubmit3: User().Email
      }
   ),
   IsBlank(
      LookUp(
         SPListName,
         UserSubmit4 = User().Email
      )
   ),
   Patch(
      SPListName,
      Defaults(SPListName),
      {
         Q1d: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
         UserSubmit4: User().Email
      }
   ),
   IsBlank(
      LookUp(
         SPListName,
         UserSubmit5 = User().Email
      )
   ),
   Patch(
      SPListName,
      Defaults(SPListName),
      {
         Q1e: Q1Radio.Selected.Value,
         UserSubmit5: User().Email
      }
   )
)

Almost got it I think @WarrenBelz .
I'm getting an error saying "'Lookup' is an unknown or unsupported function", which is causing it to fail looking up the data values in the SharePoint. I'm using this within the 'On Select' as it's for a confirmation button to confirm the choice in radio button.

Also, the patch needs to be patching for varGroupMemEd (the selected user from the previous screen)
