Repeating data

Hello,
I've created a repeating data learned from Shane Young's YouTube instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUX_0AA4-Hs

I followed  instructions which worked but for me i only need on 1 SharePoint list as i repeat only few data for the same customer like example if customer ship but they ship 2 boxes same day i wanted like something it can only repeat this on same SharePoint list, so it record that customer twice with the two shipment details as i am newbie and still struggling it will be hard for me to join 2 SharePoint list 😫

TrackingNumber
Weight
Length
DeclaredValue
CODAmount
FreightCharges
Width
Height

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thank you

Hi @Ramole ,

We posted at the same time here (I edited my previous response, so ignore it as you have answered the question).

Using the "red" table name TableRed and CompanyName for the drop-down, the items for your gallery for the drop-down should something like be:

Filter(TableRed, 'Company Name' = CompanyName.Selected.Value)

You will obviously have to substitute your values here, but one thing to watch - you have not specified what type of field "Company Name" is in the source. If .Value does not work, look for the correct value in the data below after you type in the "dot" after "Selected".

Hi @WarrenBelz

Below code is OnSuccess Form but this is with two SharePoint List but i need to make one as you said before is for shipping and if Mr John ship today 2 pieces all i need is as it same person just enter the name orderdate etc and tracking numbers will change as its 2 pieces but the name stays same, i am looking something like that

ForAll(ExpenseCollection,If(!IsBlank(LineTracking),Patch('Shipments details',Defaults('Shipments details'),{TrackingNumber: LineTracking,FreightCharges:LineFreightCharges,Weight:LineWeight,Dimensions:LineLength,Width:LineWidth,Height:LineHeight,DeclaredValue:LineDeclaredValue,CODAmount:LineCodAmount1,MasterID:Form1_1.LastSubmit.ID})))

Thank you

Hi @Ramole ,

As you can understand on this forum, the responder has no idea on the level of skill of the person posting the question. Up until now, I thought you were asking some very basic questions on data structures.

After seeing your OnSuccess Patch statement, you are obviously fairly advanced in PowerApps coding, so my thoughts are in a very different direction. What you are asking it appears revolves around creating new records from the form (which I assume is not bound to a data source). These would have to be in a separate list (as you need a one-to-many relationship) and your code appears to be doing that.

I must admit that whenever I encounter this requirement, I simply launch a "NewForm" for the secondary list with the default for the "key" field taken from the field on the main screen, then submit the form and refresh the data source for the gallery, so I am not a large "Patch" user (generally in-line gallery edits and small field writes).

You might consider this approach if you cannot get this working.

Hi @WarrenBelz

Yes i have created already with two SharePoint List to work but it will be better to use on One SharePoint List because with 2 list you will need 2 data source and filter which i am avoiding  also i have seen is possible but i can not go around the format code to use honest i hope someone Power Apps Community or Staff will help i am just hoping to get the help i need

Thanks

Hi @Ramole ,

One list would obviously need to be based on the "red" items, but with all the "green" items included as fields in the list.

I believe your current code will do the first bit of this (write the red items and the company name) you just need to add all the green item field names to the red list and patch them as well. You will then have one list "denormalised" list with all the details required.

Hi @Ramole, the problem you are running into in which an extra row gets added to the list is because you are submitting the form and then using LastSubmit to fetch the values to add to your repeating rows. The problem with that approach is that the form submission adds a new row, which you don't want. So use the values from the form by referencing the datacards directly in your Patch instead of using Form.LastSubmit. This way you will not get the extra row that you are getting.

Let me know if this helps.
