Unable to update shared component libraries in power app

I created a shared component library and imported it into my power app. I then go back and update the component library and publish it, and when I go back into my power app, I don't see any "Review" button to update the component library...  I try clicking on the refresh button beside the insert tab and it says: "there are no component libraries to be updated."

Yes, that real struggle is there. I think some people got around that by modifying the .msapp file to change the default values to variables, but it seems a bit hacky to me.

Yeah there really is no need for that kind of hackery.  Modifying the msapp file is not for the faint of heart.  But my stand holds on the fact that I don't want to have to modify any app to do style changes in the apps.  With the data centralized styling, I even have an app that lets the admin of the apps change the styles (which is just updating values in that app style record).  This way no one has to deal with the formula and republish and no one has to guess about color names or other values to put into a SharePoint list by hand.

That Theming reference you have is for Dataverse and the CoE starter kit - that's premium license!

If you have all of that, then it is an option.  I usually am working from the world of "we don't want to spend another dime" so doing theming is just a basic process now in the SharePoint world for the apps.

Thanks, that pretty much answers my side question haha. Going back to the initial question, I wonder if the component bug not updating is limited to certain regions (just out of curiosity) running on a different PowerPlatform build. I am from Canada or North America region. I am guessing you are from another region?

Hmmm, I'm North America also - Maryland, USA.  So, possible that it is a different region center within North America...just a guess.

How about you @FPI-Marc - what region are you in?  Perhaps there is a connection.

Sorry I miss your question yesterday. We don't have a solution for applying themes/colors accross all apps without republishing every app one by one. We do have a shared component with a collection of color values (primary, secondary, borders, etc). It also includes a certain number of input properties to allow fine tuning some of the colors. We just drop that component on a hidden screen and use it to apply colors and styles to controls.  I must admit that this is not the ideal situation but for now it works ok for us. That said, I'd be really interested in an "accross the board no republish needed" solution.

If it can help, @iAm_ManCat has a pretty neat solution to deal with themes in PowerApps here. That's what inspired us making our theme component.

There is a solution actually, we were going over in page 2 of this thread. You can store color vales in a SP list, and then connect to that in power apps, and store the colors in global variables.

California -- Components are not updating on my end either. I've created a component library, imported to my app, saved and closed, made a change to the component, went back into the app, tried to check for updates and nothing found. 

Shows latest changes if I delete and re-add the component

We also encountered the bug of not being able to update components from the library (Central Europe). This is what we found out about the issue:

• The bug exists since version 3.21074.37 of the PowerApps Studio. If you go back to version 3.21073.27 (PowerApps Studio -> Settings -> Support -> Edit), the review button and update dialog appears again.
• Microsoft confirmed multiple times that they are working hard on a bug fix, because we had an issue even before the problem of the not-appearing-review-button where the library update would crash with a cryptic error message.

I hope that this information helps you temporarily and hopefully we get a bugfix soon, since the component library is a vital tool for building more complex app structures in my eyes.
