So since yesterday, all our apps started misbehaving. PowerApps Studio version 3.22082.8.
All ComboBox controls (Single Double) and their DisplayFields and SearchFields values reset themselves to something completely random.
To fix this, we had to rename columns used in those fields to have AAA in front of them so that when you load the app, the studio would reset all those DisplayFields and SearchFields to those columns with AAAxxx
Microsoft you must fix this urgently and stop breaking things FFS. I also reported this via their amazing support portal...
The app is connected to GitHub and we can clearly see what is happening:
It happened on save straight after opening the app in studio mode? Seems related to an issue from 2018 when if you changed the items property, the DisplayFields value would change to "ComplianceAssetId" as mentioned in step 16: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Combo-Box-Display-Issue-Bug-Once-Upgraded-to...
FYI, Microsoft Support acknowledged the bug, and created this work-around: Go into App Settings, and change the Authoring Version of PowerApps:
I'm actually not sure which version is the good one. MS had me set it to the last one in the list, rather than the 'recommended' one, but today I"m back on a 'recommended' one. Perhaps this auto-updates with new releases, and I managed to skip the bad one. They did not provide any guidance on how the authoring version is set.
If you are having the issue, try changing to an older one.
@LenC Microsoft told me they fixed it. I checked one of the apps I didn't have to publish (i.e. no major updates) since before this bug was introduced. I just loaded it in the studio, and it's still not fixed, even though the "recommended" version is different from the version that is live
All Combo Boxes are still defaulting to the first column name in alphabetical order...
The other app we are working on daily seems to be working correctly on the same authoring version as above. Weird. Though I didn't check all ComboBoxes, I can see my colleague had been saving/publishing it yesterday and today with the following version.
